Summers are fun. Or are they...?

Remember, South Florida is going to be hot in summer. And I mean scorching hot, even if it's overcast or cloudy. So be prepared and plan accordingly if you're getting married in summer months. If your ceremony is near ocean, there's always a slight breeze which helps a little. Choose indoor venue if possible or plan having your ceremony later in the day close to sunset but still early enough to have plenty of daylight left.

What if it rains...? Well, it does rain in summer and especially down here in South Florida. The weather in summer down here is so unpredictable that you won't know until the day of - and even if it rains in the morning it will most likely turn out to be a beautiful day with gorgeous sunset - it almost always does! So don't panic and keep an eye on the forecast. Your venue may have some options such as tent or gazebo. Plus - they say rain on your wedding day means luck :-)

More insight on unpleasant weather is below.

Too much to think about...?

Same here. And that's why I say - hire a wedding planner - especially if your wedding is expected to be rather large with lot's of moving parts. They'll help you carry some of the planning stress and make your Florida Keys wedding planning process easier. Not to mention most resorts will require you to have a wedding planner or the day of coordinator.

Getting married May through October? Read this...

If you're getting married in Florida during hurricane season I highly suggest to check with your vendors on their hurricane policy and to purchase a wedding insurance for your peace of mind. Sometimes flights get cancelled, venue closes and/or vendors abandon the islands. So if the storm hits the fan, it won't cost you anything besides the insurance cost.

As much as I don't want to even think about your wedding being ruined by weather, stuff happens. And as long as I'm available on your alternate day, I'm still in! In my entire career as a wedding photographer I've only had two weddings (knock on the wood) cancelled due to hurricane but let's be responsible and be prepared just in case. There is some great info in this article and you should definitely check it out: Article about wedding insurance
